Let’s be honest for a quick minute, are you truly in control of your own life?

Sure, we are all under the INFLUENCE of others, to a greater, or hopefully vastly LESSER EXTENT, but realistically, we need to hone down who we really listen to, basically MENTORS, and treat everything else for the noise that it is….At the same time, we need to minimise, or be selective about who we give our time to, advice and coaching wise, and “not throw pearls before pigs“ so to speak.

98% of the nonsense that we (may) look at in the comments section of youtube videos, programmed comments about whatever crisis the system has lined up for us this week by politicians or the attempts by some of your ‘friends’ to put you in your place by saying ‘you’ve got to be realistic’ and stop ‘living in dreamland’ are all ways to ‘SUBVERT and CONTROL’ your mind. NOTE: Remember, they liked you where you were in their ranking structure, most probably ‘beneath them’, at least in their World, which doesn’t make them your friend.

They are a ruse to have self-perceived, self ranking ‘Alphas’, Betas, Deltas, Omegas, for the Greek language enthusiasts amongst you, the Climate Communists or other fans of the ranking structure to manipulate into shape, the kind of society that they wish to see. Usually, to the detriment of the one that individuals such as myself, encourage, nae demand that those in my ‘zone’ apply…..

To date, the only philosophy that supports that, is that of the so-called SIGMA. Now, people mistakenly think of this persona as being the Lone Wolf. This is not strictly true. The SIGMA knows that he (or she) has to get the answers themselves. HOWEVER, this does involve relationships with others, where mutual exchange, be it in training, finance, business, friendship, or even LOVE is key.

Moreover, the SIGMA character knows when to oscillate between working alone, and when to insert himself (herself) into a group, as an equal contributor, a Wild Card (that goes on to win the Superbowl) if you like, that can step up to be the ‘Alpha’ team leader where necessary. He really prefers to work, in the shadows and BE neither a Team Leader nor Team Player.

Really, I don’t like these terms because labels are akin to fables in my eyes, but Sigma is the closest that we really get to; in a fictional sense, the character of Bruce Wayne in the Batman series, K in Blade Runner 2049 played by Ryan Gosling or in the real world, my surveillance Mentor “Chris” from my book “The Potato Chipper” www.thepotatochipper.com and Martial Arts Sifu Paul Whitrod and others I met on my work/travels in Asia.

These are the characters that should you find yourself in a situation where there is just you, and him, AND you are surrounded by 15 to 20 people that want to ‘retire’ you, with YOU, the Sigma in waiting, and him, the Sigma Anchor, you will NOT be defeated, let’s put it this way. I myself have been in such a situation, once, in Afghanistan, and I quickly realised that I was on my own, abandoned to manage a serious situation, spiralling out of control, by a so-called “Alpha” who had retreated into himself, curled up like a ball…. The lights were on, but nobody was at home… I managed, all the people in my care got out alive, but it was no thanks to the “Alpha”, the “Colonel”, the “Head Honcho”.
